The Al Wathba Long Salt Lake, located along the Al Ain highway near Al Bihouth, has recently gained notoriety on social media due to its crystal clear waters and mushroom-like piles of sodium chloride. The unusual salt formations are solid enough for people to hop across, resulting in ridiculously excellent Instagram photos. And, with less compacted grains lining the water's edge, some photos have a snowy appearance, which is a significant novelty in this part of the world but one we can get behind. Parking is free, and you may even set up a BBQ; just be sure you take everything home with you when you leave. Although the trench was man-made, the salt pillars are entirely natural creations. The theory is that they lived beneath the sand and rock before being discovered, as formations like this would take millions of years to build.
