Fujairah Fort
The Fujairah Fort is one of the UAE's oldest monuments, having been erected in 1670.This masterpiece spans 610 square metres and is located four km from Fujairah Airport.The fort is open everyday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is free of charge to enter.It takes about 2-3 hours to really appreciate this architectural masterpiece.
Fujairah Fort is one of the emirate's architectural gems, and it is conveniently accessible from most central sites. The fort, perched on a hill, provides panoramic views of the surrounding area. Fujairah Fort, built around 1670, has a proud history of weathering the Wahhabist invasion and British Royal Navy bombardment.
It also functioned as a military outpost, royal palace, prison, and execution chamber. Currently, the facility serves as a wedding location for high-profile marriage ceremonies.
