The Mleiha archeological site near Sharjah provides a glimpse into the past, with tombs reaching back to the Iron and Bronze Ages. The visitors' center here is genuinely fantastic, and you'll leave knowing a lot about UAE history (yes, there's more to it than simply oil discoveries). If you can't tear yourself away, you can spend the night camping and stargazing.
