Ras al-Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah, one of the UAE's lesser-known emirates, is endowed with various natural treasures to appreciate as well as a plethora of activities to participate in. Located approximately an hour and a half from downtown Dubai, the 'forgotten emirate' with its virgin beaches, forested mountainsides, and tranquil environs makes an ideal entrance for a quick staycation. You can spend great time observing the incredibly rare Arabian oryx within city borders, which conservationists have spared from extinction.

Ras Al Khaimah takes pleasure in being listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for possessing the world's longest zipline, which stretches 2.83 kilometers through Jebel Jais. If you want to enjoy an unnerving experience during your UAE tour, go to the abandoned settlement of Jazirah Al Hamra near Ras Al Khaimah. It is said that the 14th century houses and mosques in the area are haunted by 'jinns'. Despite their strange appearance and rumors, the orange-colored decrepit structures attract photographers from all over the world to capture some of their best shots.
