Sir Bani Yas Island is the largest natural island off the coast of Abu Dhabi and was previously the private island of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE's founder. How to Reach
Sir Bani Yas Island is located in the Al Gharbia region of the UAE, approximately 250 kilometers southwest of Abu Dhabi. It can be reached by car and then by boat from Jebel Dhanna on the mainland.
Alternatively, you can reach the island by boat or seaplane, which will land at Sir Bani Yas' Royal Bay Moorings.
Best time to visit
The best time to visit Sir Bani Yas Island is from September through March. During these months, the weather is reasonably good, with cool temperatures at night and little to no rain, making it ideal for exploring the island and participating in various activities.

History of Sir Bani Yas Island.
The island was named Sir Bani Yas after the Bani Yas Tribe, who were the earliest immigrants in Abu Dhabi. The island itself is the top of a salt dome formed millions of years ago by natural geographical processes. Even now, the island is home to a Nestorian Christian Monastery, which is one of its oldest structures, dating back to 600 AD.
The island also contains several additional historical monuments, including Late Stone Age remnants, many early Islamic structures, and the only pre-Islamic Christian site discovered in the UAE. The island was first mentioned in European literature around the 1590s, then again in the 1820s and 1850s. The island was first developed as a wildlife refuge in 1977, providing a safe shelter and natural habitat for thousands of animals.
